"Where are we going?

Harper Collins has dropped all interest in doing any further expansions for Aliens Predator. They still hold the license to the game. Precedence did show interest in picking up the license from Harper but due to various factors, have not followed through yet. So unless someone new buys the license or Precedence follows through it doesn't look like there will be an expansion to this game anytime soon.

However don't throw those cards away yet. You can play crossover scenarios with the Terminator CCG game. Look at the web page we have made for Terminator here! Also look for some new looks around the site and added sections.

Couple of things that are in the works are: Online Trading - List the cards you have and the cards you want. Match your list to others and start the trading! Crossover Scenarios - Pit your Predators against the might Resistance. Send Alien Swarms against the metal minons of Skynet!

Updates will be posted on the AP email forum and the Terminator forum."

The email Forum was left open for members, but no one new could sign up. The official site then started to disappear and then re-appear on the internet, but was eventually taken down.

A member of the ZI Games design team, Pierce Ryan (a.k.a. Galmorzu) did an interview - around about the time when the official site started to go disappear.

Galmorzu then made a new official scenario named Fallout, he tried to get another one going in the AvPNews Forums but no one appeared to be interested. He now resides in our current Forums, where you can ask him a question. I asked Galmorzu about who owns the rights, and whether there was any chance of it being re-released and he said;

"Nope, no one is in contact with Harper anymore (in fact, we're not even in touch with each other anymore), and as I remember, nobody knows who bought the rights to the old Battleground system for CCG's. I certainly haven't seen it used in anything, so I think it's safe to say it's pretty much gone.

If there ever were to be another AvP ccg, it most likely would have an all new set-up and rule set.

I guess if someone were filthy rich, they could buy the rights back for the ccg Battleground System, and buy the rights to the Aliens and Predator (and AvP films), but it really would cost a fortune, and that doesn't even take into account find out who owns the CCG rights."

I looked into this and discovered that the cards company Reality Simulations, Inc own the rights to the AliensPredator CCG game, and the Battleground system. This is what they had to say on terms of a re-release:

"As far as re-release goes, it's unlikely. The TCG market is much changed since that time, the licence has expired, Precedence is dead and everyone has disbursed. I unfortunately don't see it happening, at least as a real product. It's remotely possible it could be a virtual product if one of us got super-inspired, but even that's remote."

Me and other forum memebers have looked into this, but it appears that is beyond our reach, as a spokesman of Fox said: "We aren’t able to grant a license to a private party only to legitimate going concerns who are able to show sales history, financing, and ability to execute the contract commitments, but thank you for your interest and enthusiasm for our properties." So as for fans buying the rights, nope. Lets just hope a 'legitimate company' does some time in the future...
